This exhibition brings together
over 100 photographs in which Mario Testino captures contemporary
celebrities from the worlds of fashion, film, music and style. His subjects
include Robbie Williams, Liz Hurley and Sophie Dahl, as well as a
large number of Hollywood's youngest stars.
Testino is one of fashion's most
sought-after and charismatic photographers, and his life-size colour images
have the effect of turning his subjects into secular icons. Moving from his
native Peru to London in the late 1970s, he has worked regularly for
British, French and Italian Vogue, The Face and Vanity Fair, and has had his
work exhibited widely in Europe and Japan.
Much of the fascination of his
photography lies in today's cult of celebrity, youth and a particular ideal
of beauty. This is the only Scottish showing of the exhibition, first
seen with phenomenal success at London's National Portrait Gallery.
